What a PTZ does — and what it doesn’t
Presets and patrols
The camera can store several positions and run through a sequence. An automation or an operator can also point it at an event.
One direction at a time
While it looks at one area, a PTZ does not see the others. Fixed cameras are still needed to continuously record important entrances.
IR vision
Infrared allows night monitoring without a visible white floodlight. The image generally switches to black and white to maximize sensitivity.
